Valerie Coffin Price lives and works in Cardiff. She studied fine art at Chelsea School of Art and later completed a post-graduate diploma in sculpture and letter cutting at the City & Guilds of London Art School.
Valerie is an artist-letterer who deals with issues to do with language, environment and cultural identity. She makes work in response to a specific site combining text and imagery. Her work involves the use of both traditional techniques and materials as well as industrial and digital processes. She has worked extensively on public commissions and residencies.
During 2005-6 Valerie has been working on a project entitled Distant Voices involving journeys in Wales, China and Cambodia, and collaborating with the Welsh Refugee Council.
The Distant Voices project was supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
