Valerie has been working collaboratively with Mary Husted for four years on works using found objects which have been cast off or abandoned. They both live near the sea in south Wales and are avid collectors of seashore detritus responding, separately and together, to the resonances of found objects and fragments and incorporating them into their work.
The sea has now become an important metaphor in their work, being both a source of actual image and object as well as a carrier of people, products and ideas. |
